SYSBEL 2025 Fire Safety Month Review | Laboratory Safety & Emergency Response Training

November 2025 marked China’s National Fire Safety Publicity Month. To enhance fire safety awareness and strengthen emergency response capabilities across the organization, SYSBEL carried out a series of safety-themed activities, taking concrete actions to reinforce a comprehensive “fire safety protection network.”

To further improve campus safety education—especially in laboratories handling hazardous chemicals—SYSBEL collaborated closely with universities nationwide. Through a combination of knowledge sharing and hands-on experience, we helped faculty and students enhance safety awareness and improve practical emergency skills.

1. Laboratory Hazardous Chemicals Safety Management Training

In response to the theme of Fire Safety Month, SYSBEL hosted specialized training sessions aimed at strengthening fire prevention and disaster preparedness in laboratories and other high-risk environments. The training focused on the prevention and response of hazardous chemical spill accidents, enhancing participants’ emergency response skills and risk awareness.

The training covered:

  • Basic understanding of hazardous chemical properties and associated risks

  • Identification of common storage and usage hazards

  • Case studies of typical chemical accidents

  • Interpretation of key safety management regulations

  • Emergency response procedures for chemical spills

  • Personal protection and initial fire suppression methods

Through structured explanations and scenario-based guidance, the training helped faculty and students master essential operational skills and build a stronger laboratory safety framework.

2. Emergency Response Drill for Hazardous Chemical Spills

Aligned with Fire Safety Month, SYSBEL designed three typical laboratory emergency scenarios to systematically strengthen participants’ response capabilities.

01. Emergency Eye Exposure Response

A simulation of accidental eye contact with acidic or alkaline chemicals.
The drill emphasized the “immediate, nearby, continuous rinsing” principle, demonstrated the correct use of emergency eyewash equipment, and showcased the standardized process from self-rescue to medical assistance—reinforcing the importance of timely response and proper personal protection.

02. Chemical Poisoning Emergency Response

A scenario involving inhalation of toxic vapors due to poor ventilation or insufficient protective measures.
The drill focused on “quick evacuation, ventilation, and maintaining open airways,” testing participants’ ability to recognize early poisoning symptoms, coordinate orderly evacuation, and perform initial onsite rescue while ensuring control of the incident source.

03. Chemical Spill & Fire Risk Response

A complex scenario involving the large-scale leakage of a flammable and toxic chemical (xylene).
The drill rigorously tested the entire emergency response chain—from “incident reporting, evacuation, and area isolation” to “professional protection, leak containment, and safe absorption/collection.”
It emphasized unified command, coordinated teamwork, correct PPE usage, and standardized operations using professional absorbents—serving as a comprehensive assessment of the campus’s emergency management capability.

These practical exercises strengthened essential response skills, reinforced the “safety first, prevention foremost” concept, and significantly enhanced laboratory safety standards.

3. Hazardous Chemicals Knowledge Challenge

To make safety education more engaging and to reinforce the impact of Fire Safety Month, SYSBEL introduced an interactive “Safety Riddle Challenge Wall.”

Participants were invited to draw fun quiz cards featuring topics such as:

  • Hazardous chemical labeling and identification

  • Storage requirements

  • Basic emergency response knowledge

  • Laboratory safety rules

Students who answered correctly could redeem prizes.
Through a lighthearted and interactive approach, complex safety knowledge was transformed into enjoyable learning, encouraging active participation and fostering a culture where “everyone understands safety, and safety is practiced everywhere.”

4. Highlights from SYSBEL’s Fire Safety Month Activities

Henan Polytechnic University

SYSBEL conducted emergency spill handling drills and specialized training sessions on campus. By simulating real scenarios, students gained hands-on experience and a deeper understanding of compliance with safety procedures.

Jilin Institute of Chemical Technology

SYSBEL organized a comprehensive spill response drill using professional emergency kits. Through demonstrations and hands-on practice, participants learned standardized procedures and the proper use of absorbents, PPE, and containment tools.

Beijing Normal University – Hong Kong Baptist University United International College

SYSBEL delivered an interactive session on laboratory spill management. Students practiced key skills including initial spill control, standardized disposal, and personal protection.

During Fire Safety Month, SYSBEL visited more than 20 universities, including Zhengzhou University, Henan University, Jilin Institute of Chemical Technology, Beijing Normal University–Hong Kong Baptist University UIC, and Henan Polytechnic University, conducting a wide range of laboratory safety education and emergency response activities—achieving significant results.

Activity Reflection

Through these Fire Safety Month initiatives, SYSBEL deepened cooperation with academic partners and demonstrated our commitment to professional excellence and social responsibility.

Looking ahead, SYSBEL will continue to optimize product performance and user experience, providing smarter and more comprehensive solutions for laboratory safety and hazardous chemical management.
