What do You Know about the Eye Wash Standard?

The First Anniversary of the Implementation of China's National Standard for Eyewash Station
On July 1, 2020, China’s first national standard for eyewash devices GB/T 38144.1-2019 "Eye and face protection emergency spray and eyewash equipment Part 1: Technical requirements" and GB/T 38144.2-2019 "Eye and face protection emergency spray And Eyewash Equipment Part 2: Guidelines for Use was officially promulgated. The national standard has been implemented for one year, do you know all about it? We focus on several key technical requirements in the standard:

Structure of emergency sprinkler: The main components include control valve, sprinkler head and valve drive device.
The structure of the eyewash device: The main components include the flushing fluid delivery pipeline, the nozzle, the control valve, and the valve drive device.
Corresponding time
Once the valve is opened, it should always remain open. After the eyewash is started, the flushing fluid should be sprayed out automatically within 1 second.

Water flow and time
The flushing fluid should be provided at a flow rate of at least 76L/min (1.5L/min for the eyewash) and maintain continuous flushing for at least 15 minutes.
The water outlet height
The flushing fluid should be contained in the area line between the inside and outside of the standard ruler located less than 200mm above the eyewash nozzle.
Arrangement of the eyewash area
Emergency spraying and eyewashing equipment should be installed in an area that can be reached within 10 seconds from the operator, on the same plane as the area where danger may occur, and far away from obstacles.
Rinsing fluid temperature

Maintenance of eyewash
Start the eyewash unit at least once a week, perform inspection, maintenance, and record, replenish the flushing fluid, clean and remove the sediment of the flushing fluid clock, and reduce the bacterial contamination of the equipment due to long-term water storage.
