What is the OSHA standard?
2020-09-29

Commonly used hazardous chemicals classified into 8 categories according to their hazardous characteristics: Category 1 Explosives This category of chemicals refers to those that can undergo a violent chemical reaction under external action (such as heat, pressure, impact, etc.), and instantaneously generate a large amount of gas and heat, causing the surrounding pressure to rise sharply, causing an explosion, and causing damage to the surrounding environment Articles also include articles that have no overall explosion hazard, but have burning, projectile and minor explosion hazards. Category 2   compressed gas and liquefied gas This category of chemicals refers to compressed, liquefied or pressurized dissolved gases, and shall meet one of the following two conditions: a. The critical temperature is lower than 50°C. Or compressed or liquefied gas whose vapor pressure is greater than 294kPa at 50℃; b. At 21.1℃, the absolute pressure of the gas is greater than 275kPa, or at 54.4℃, the absolute pressure of the gas is greater than 715kPa compressed gas; or at 37.8℃, the Reid vapor pressure is greater than 275kPa liquefied gas or pressurized dissolution gas. Category 3  flammable liquid This category of chemicals refers to flammable liquids, liquid mixtures or liquids containing solid substances, but does not include liquids that have been listed in other categories due to their hazardous characteristics, and whose closed test flash point is equal to or lower than 61°C. Category 4   Flammable solids, natural items and flammable items when wet Flammable solids refer to solids that have a low ignition point, are sensitive to heat, impact, and friction, are easily ignited by external fire sources, burn rapidly, and may emit toxic smoke or toxic gas, but do not include items that have been listed as explosives. Spontaneous combustion items refer to items that have a low spontaneous ignition point and are prone to oxidize in the air, emit heat, and burn themselves. Moisture and flammable items refer to items that undergo a violent chemical reaction and emit a large amount of flammable gas and heat when they are exposed to water or moisture. Some of them can burn or explode without an open flame. Category 5  Oxidizing agent and organic peroxide Oxidizer refers to a substance that is in a high oxidation state, has strong oxidizing properties, and is easy to decompose and release oxygen and heat. It includes inorganic substances containing peroxides which are not necessarily flammable, but can cause the combustion of combustibles, and are in soft powder form Combustibles can form explosive mixtures and are more sensitive to heat, vibration or friction. Organic peroxides refer to organic substances containing peroxy groups in their molecular composition, which are flammable and explosive. Easily decomposes, extremely sensitive to heat, vibration or friction. Category 6  Drugs This category of chemicals means that after entering the body, it accumulates to a certain amount and can biochemically interact with body fluids and organs and tissues. Or biophysical effects, disrupting or destroying the normal physiological functions of the body, causing some organs and systems to temporarily Temporal or persistent pathological changes, and even life-threatening items. Oral inhalation LD50: solid LD50≤500mg/kg, liquid LD50≤2000mg/kg; 24h through skin contact, LD50≤1000mg/kg; dust, smoke and steam inhalation LD50≤10mg/L Solid or liquid. Category 7 Radioactive Materials This category of chemicals refers to items with specific radioactivity greater than 7.4×104Bq/kg. Category 8 Corrosive Products This category of chemicals refers to solids or liquids that can burn human tissues and cause damage to metal and other objects. Visible necrosis occurs within 4 hours of skin contact, or solid or liquid with a uniform annual corrosion rate of more than 6.25mm/y on the surface of No. 20 steel when the temperature is 55°C.
